Students from a Melbourne private school were sexually inappropriate in public and at school and sexually harassed and
intimated a young female teacher, a leaked document
has alleged.
The toxic culture among boys at St Bernard's College in Essendon emerged
after independent interviews with staff members.
Teachers from the Christian Brothers catholic college detailed their concerns to an Independent Education Union of Victoria official, who compiled them into a 13-page report which has since been leaked.
The damning development is more bad news for under-fire Christian Brothers institutions after
another school in the network was plagued
by appalling student behaviour in May and their governing
body was slammed in a report by KPMG two weeks ago.
The toxic culture among boys at St Bernard's College (main) at Essendon emerged after independent interviews with staff members.
St Bernard's College principal, Dr Michael Davies, (pictured)
said he took the allegations 'extremely seriously' but defended most of the boys
In one instance a young female teacher feared for her safety after receiving threats from a male student who sexually harassed her, the Herald-Sun reported.
The teacher claimed the boy told her he knew the route she took home and correctly named the suburb she lived in after asking if she attended a gym there.
The same woman was subjected to comments about 'her looks' from another boy,
who openly objectified her.
Another student was suspended for giving a Nazi salute while in class.

A swastika was etched into the teacher's whiteboard in the same classroom and only removed two weeks later.
St Bernard's College has 1,600 students from Year 7 through to Year 12.
The school took the allegations 'extremely seriously', claimed its principal, Dr Michael Davies in a letter to parents and caregivers.
He said 'the vast majority' of the school's students 'live our positive values'.

The letter sent by St Bernard's College principal Dr Michael Davies to parents ahead of media coverage about a leaked
report into student behaviour
Dr Davies told parents that staff 'acted immediately to condemn the unacceptable actions and
punish the students.'
But in the report teachers alleged the school failed to properly deal with staff complaints.
The school's boys acted inappropriately in public on several occasions, it was also alleged.
During an excursion some boys simulated sex while others shared sexual imagery during a Melbourne tram trip, one teacher claimed.
'On an excursion [teacher's name withheld] had a group of boys on a tram where they proceeded to sing who
let the dogs out in relation to a woman,' said one anecdote from the report.

It also alleged students acted inappropriately sexual during class at the school
Boys in a Year 9 class were 'dry humping' each other, while Year 11
students were comparing penis sizes.
Some of the teachers told the union official they
believed the school's attitude to sexual harassment and violence by students was at times 'boys will be
boys'.
They also told the official they were worried that reporting of the incidents could reflect on their teaching rather than the 'appalling' conduct of the boys.
The report recommended the school needed to appoint 'an independent person' to handle
staff complaints.
An internal review found in July 2021 that St Kevin's College (pictured) had a 'sexist' and
'misogynist' culture
Educators at a private Catholic school 'don't feel safe walking across the school yard' (stock image)
The school, whose motto means 'to learn what is right and then to put it into practice', is part
of he Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) network.
The EREA network was formerly known as the Christian Brothers.
Dr Davies pointed out in his letter to parents that the St Bernard's College's 'respectful relationships program'
was being audited by child and youth wellbeing researcher, Professor Helen Cahill.
In May teachers at St Kevin's College, another Christian Brothers school, 'don't feel safe'
after year seven and eight boys were caught out
rating female staff's genitals on a sickening list.
A teacher revealed the boys had been ranking 'staff members' p*****s' and rating the sexual attractiveness of each
other's sisters.
The shocking claims came after an internal review
in July 2021 found that the $20,995-a-year school had a
'sexist' and 'misogynist' culture.
The KPMG report into the Trustees of Edmund Rice Education Australia (TEREA)
said the body was 'absent' and had 'evaded accountability'.
Catholic Education Commission Victoria ordered the KPMG report and demanded sweeping changes to TEREA.

Lady Gaga lived up to her fashion icon status for the London premiere of The
Joker: Folie à Deux on Wednesday night with three outfit changes.
The singer, 38, who plays Harley Quinn in film, commanded
attention as she left the afterparty at Nomad Hotel in Covent Garden in an outlandish face print
bodysuit and matching stockings.
The pattern had drawings of bleeding faces stitched together and
matched Gaga's perfectly themed eye-shadow look for the psychopathic character in which she portrays.
Gaga had originally arrived to afterparty in a striped minidress after
wowing on the red carpet in a custom scarlet Celine
gown - and she made sure her outfit was still a
talking point when she left the bash with her fiancé Michael Polansky, 46.
Despite leaving in the early hours, Gaga donned a pair of dark shades and added to her quirky look with
ripped tights and baby blue platform heels.

Gillian Jacobs looked chic in red as she appeared on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday.
The Love star, 40, who is plugging her new series Transatlantic, ended
up weighing in on the Vanderpump Rules Scandoval alongside guest Lala
Kent during a fun-filled interview.
The Community alum looked ready for anything in a long, short-sleeved, ribbed cranberry dress with pink stripes down the sides
and pink detailing at the waist and a high slit up one leg.
The Seven Faces of Jane star wore pointy-toed pale pink pumps with the dress and carried an LL Bean-style tote bag.
Her long, blonde hair was styled in a Veronica Lake hairstyle.
Her makeup was dramatic and her lip color matched her unique dress.

Scandoval: during a Wednesday appearance on Watch What Happens Live, the Love star, 40, ended up weighing

WWHL host Andy Cohen fired questions at the Ibiza star, asking her if she thinks Raquel
Leviss actually thought she had chemistry with Tom Schwartz.
Gillian said no. She also revealed that she's a VPR viewer and
appreciates all the context the newest episodes have given to the off screen drama that's
been dominating pop culture news since March
3.
And when it comes to who she blames more for the affair between Raquel and Tom Sandoval, she agreed with the most
of the rest of the world and said, 'Sandoval.'
But Lala brought up a good point, saying the blame is on both of
their shoulders since Raquel was best friends with Sandoval's girlfriend of nearly a decade, Ariana Madix.
When Cohen asked the Fear Street actress if
she thought Raquel and Sandoval would last, she screwed up her face in disgust
and said, 'Um, no.'
Currently, Gillian is playing Mary Jayne Gold, a real-life Chicago heiress who worked to rescue European Jews, intellectuals,
and artists, during World War II in Transatlantic on Netflix.
'I think that she felt compelled to help in any way that she could,' she said
of her character in an interview with Town and Country.
'Certainly in our version of the telling of it, initially, what she feels like she has to
offer is her money, her wealth.'

She added: 'The story that we're telling is that she's also realizing that she has more to offer beyond that'.
'In real life and in Transatlantic, she was an incredibly
wealthy woman who had this unique ability in this moment to help out
and she chose to do that.'
'I read a quote from her saying that this was the most important year of her life,' she said of the real life
Mary Jane. 'This was the year of her life
that was the most consequential and important.
'She lived a long life but I think that this was really, the most
important period of her life. I tried to not have foreknowledge—you don't want to bring, you want your character to be living in the present.'
'I think even at the time, she had a recognition of that to some
degree.'
